Welcome to the Vegas Vanguard Independent Indoor Percussion
Ensemble based out of Las Vegas, Nevada. We are a developing
percussion youth organization that strives to improve the quality of
percussionists here in Clark County. The ensemble is intended for
performers 14 to 22 years of age, that do not have the opportunity
to perform in an indoor percussion ensemble at their high school,
university, or college in the greater Las Vegas area.
Every season the Vegas Vanguard performs a 4 to 6 minute
custom designed program on the stage of a indoor basketball court
at various high schools and universities complete with costumes,
props, backdrops, floor coverings, and all varieties of percussion
instruments.
Auditions for the ensemble are usually held through the months of
September and November, and the competitive season is from
February to May of the following year.
The ensemble is a member with the Southern Nevada Indoor
Percussion Association (snipadrum.org) and competes in their
various competitions held throughout the Vegas Valley. The
ensemble is also a third year member of Winter Guard
International (wgi.org) and participates in several of its
competitions held across the United States. Vegas Vanguard has
also been a participant with the Southern California Percussion
Alliance (sc-pa.org) during the 2005 and 2006 seasons and even
claimed the Gold Medal for the Independent A division in the 2005
season.

and was founded back in 2004 by Executive Director Brian
Howerton.
